Before a commercial break, the comedian says, 'The producers have asked me to give a special shout-out to any of our previous lead actress winners who are watching tonight from prison.'

AceShowbiz - Even though Felicity Huffman was a no-show at the 71st Primetime Emmy Awards, comedian Thomas Lennon made sure to let people feel her presence during the live ceremony. Serving as the commentator for this year's event, he took a jab at the actress over her prison sentence that was stemmed from her involvement in the college admissions scandal.

Before a commercial break, Thomas said on the stage, "The producers have asked me to give a special shout-out to any of our previous lead actress winners who are watching tonight from prison. Hopefully those two weeks are going to fly right by. Keep your chin up." The "Night at the Museum" star didn't name names, but it was clear that he was referring to Felicity, who once won Outstanding Lead Actress in a Comedy Series for her performance in season one of "Desperate Housewives".

Felicity was among the many implicated in the nationwide college scandal back in March, along with Lori Loughlin. She pleaded guilty to charges of conspiracy to commit mail fraud and honest services mail fraud. The "When They See Us" star was initially recommended to spend a month behind the bars, but she was eventually sentenced to life in prison for two weeks. She will also have to pay a $30,000 fine, complete 250 hours of community service and she will be on probation for one year following her release.

Accepting the court's decision "without reservation," she said of the sentencing in a statement, "I have always been prepared to accept whatever punishment Judge Talwani imposed. I broke the law. I have admitted that and I pleaded guilty to this crime. There are no excuses or justifications for my actions. Period." Felicity also offered an apology to her husband, William H. Macy, their daughter as well as students who "work hard every day to get into college."

Back to the Emmy Awards, several winners had been announced during the ceremony that took place at the Microsoft Theater is Los Angeles. Among them were Jharrel Jerome, who grabbed Outstanding Lead Actor in a Limited Series or Movie for his role on "When They See Us", as well as Outstanding Competition Program winner "RuPaul's Drag Race".
