Despite Lynne's strong challenge at the September 18 hearing, a Los Angeles Superior Court Judge rules that Jamie should remain as the conservator of the 'Toxic' hitmaker.

AceShowbiz - Britney Spears' dad Jamie reportedly fought off an attempt from his ex-wife Lynne to remove him from his conservatorship of the singer at a hearing on Wednesday, September 18.

The singer has been under the conservatorship of her father Jamie since 2008, when he was given the authority to oversee the "Toxic" hitmaker's personal health and wellbeing, as well as the star's finances.

According to TMZ, a judge has ruled that Jamie should remain as the conservator of the star.

Although reporters were shut out of the hearing, sources told the publication that Lynne strongly challenged his conservatorship, claiming he had done a poor job, but that Los Angeles Superior Court Judge Brenda J. Penny rejected her claims.

A case manager Jamie hired, Jodi Montgomery, has been appointed to manage the "Womanizer" singer's personal and medical needs until January, while he recovers from ankle surgery, while he remains in charge of his daughter's business affairs and finances.

Judge Penny agreed with attorneys that the hearing, which Britney did not attend despite reports she would do so, should be closed to the media because of what was going to be said about the singer's medical, mental and financial issues.

She did not issue any rulings, meaning existing arrangements remain in place, and court documents state that a status hearing about the conservatorship will be held in January.

Questioned at Los Angeles International Airport in California about whether or not anything was resolved during the hearing, Lynne performed the sign of the cross.
