Mike 'The Situation' Sorrentino Will Be Released From Prison After Tax Evasion Scandal

The rep of the 'Jersey Shore' star confirms the news, saying, 'We can confirm that the projected date of Michael Sorrentino's release from the custody of the Bureau of Prisons is September 12, 2019.'

AceShowbiz - Mike "The Situation" Sorrentino is counting days before he finally regains his freedom. The "Jersey Shore" star, who is currently serving 8 months in federal prison over tax evasion scandal, is scheduled to be released from prison in Otisville, New York, on Thursday, September 12, according to the Federal Bureau of Prison's website.

The rep for the 38-year-old star further confirmed the news, saying, "We can confirm that the projected date of Michael Sorrentino's release from the custody of the Bureau of Prisons is September 12, 2019." New Jersey attorney Richard Sapinski, who represented the MTV star, added, "I'm happy he's being released. I like Michael. I'm glad the matter is being concluded. I wish him well."

Fans also couldn't wait for him to return. The comment section of his wife Lauren Pesce's Instagram page was flooded with excited fans with one of them writing, "Tomorrow's the big day laurens! Can you please do a live when you get in the car together??" Another person said, "One more day until your mans is back."

Mike was sentenced to an 8-month jail time last October. He and brother Marc previously pleaded guilty to tax evasion and concealing income, stemming from a 2014 indictment for falsifying business and personal tax returns between 2010 and 2012. He was ordered pay restitution to the IRS in the amount of $337,693 with Marc being sentenced to two years in prison for aiding in the preparation of a false and fraudulent tax return. He is expected to be released from prison on September 28, 2020.

Prior to serving in prison, Mike married his now-wife Lauren at The Legacy Castle in Pompton Plains, New Jersey. According to reports, Mike's "Jersey Shore" co-stars Nicole "Snooki" Polizzi, Jenni "JWoww" Farley, Ronnie Ortiz-Magro, Deena Nicole Cortese, Paul "DJ Pauly D" DelVecchio, Vinny Guadagnino and Angelina Pivarnick were in attendance.

Snooki and JWoww's 4-year-old daughters, Giovanna and Meilani respectively, served as flower girls. Meanwhile, Ronnie attended the wedding with his on-/off-girlfriend Jen Harley and their 6-month-old daughter, Ariana.
