Smith's Mike is still a hot-blooded detective while Lawrence's Marcus inclines to retire, but the duo are brought back in action as a mob boss seeks revenge for his brother whom they defeated.

AceShowbiz - Will Smith and Martin Lawrence are back in action in the first trailer for "Bad Boys for Life". The long-awaited sequel to 2003's "Bad Boys II" reunites Mike Lowrey (Smith), who is in a midlife crisis, and Marcuss Burnett (Lawrence), who is now a police inspector.
Still presenting Mike as a hot-headed detective and Marcus as his exact opposite, the movie relies on the comedic dynamics between these two main characters for humor. Their funny moments even intercept some high octane action sequences that often become the spectacle in mid-budget movies.
Marcus has some inclination towards retiring, but is convinced to do "one last mission" with his buddy Mike. The trailer also introduces a new team of young cops, played by Alexander Ludwig, Vanessa Hudgens and Charles Melton, but they don't seem to be ready to replace these two vets, at least not with their singing skills.
"No, never, y'all will never do that again," Mike stops the newbies when they try to get in on the bad boys' theme song. Marcus chimes in, "And you f***ing up the lyrics, which take a long time to learn."
With "Ride together. Die together" as its tagline, the new installment of the buddy cop comedy film franchise centers on the Miami PD and its elite AMMO team's attempt to take down Armando Armas, head of a drug cartel. Armando is a cold-blooded killer with a vicious, taunting nature. He is committed to the work of the cartel and is dispatched by his mother to kill Mike Lowery.
Jacob Scipio plays Armando, while Paola Nunez stars as Rita, the tough and funny criminal psychologist who is the newly appointed head of AMMO and Mike's former girlfriend, who is described as the one who got away. Joe Pantoliano returns as Captain Conrad Howard, with Theresa Randle reprising her role as Theresa Burnett, Marcus' wife. DJ Khaled additionally has a role as Manny the Butcher.
Adil El Arbi and Bilall Fallah take over the helming duty from Michael Bay, who directed the first two installments. The screenplay is written by Joe Carnahan and Chris Bremner. The third "Bad Boys" film is set to be released on January 17, 2020 in the United States.
