In related news, the Disney alum's rumored girlfriend Kaitlynn Carter has recently been caught liking an Instagram comment that advocated for her and Miley.

AceShowbiz - Just when everyone thinks Liam Hemsworth and Miley Cyrus broke up amicably, a couple of new shocking claims debunks it all. It's been reported that the Australian hunk's drug use and the Disney alum's infidelity played a huge part in their decision to split.

Sources close to Miley tell TMZ that the singer has tried "valiantly" to save their marriage to no avail because Liam was drinking heavily and using certain drugs that she wanted no part of due to her past substance abuse struggles.

However, sources close to "The Hunger Games" star begged to differ and denied the allegation. They insisted that it was only a way to distract from the real cause of the breakup, which was her infidelity. It remains unknown with whom Miley had an affair, though she was recently pictured making out with Kaitlynn Carter at the Il Sereno Hotel in Italy.

This sparked rumors that the ladies might be seeing each other. On Wednesday, August 14, the rumored lovebirds were seen driving around Los Angeles following their vacation, but they didn't flaunt any PDAs like last time. In a couple of photos that were obtained by TMZ, Miley was seen sitting behind the wheel while talking to Kaitlynn.

Further fueling the rumors was "The Hills: New Beginnings" star's latest social media activity, in which she was caught liking an Instagram comment that advocated for her and Miley. The comment read, "U and Miley have every right to do what ever u want! If u make Miley happy then I like u! Miley's happiness and mental health is all that matters to me!"

Miley announced her split from Liam last week, with the latter addressing their breakup through an Instagram post on Monday. "Just a quick note to say that Miley and I have recently separated and I wish her nothing but health and happiness going forward," he said, stressing that "this is a private matter." He noted, "I have not made, nor will I be making, any comments to any journalists or media outlets. Any reported quotes attributes to me are false."
