People have additionally been raving on the internet about Hanks' performance as the beloved TV icon Fred Rogers in 'A Beautiful Day in the Neighborhood'.

AceShowbiz - Grab some tissues before watching the first trailer for Fred Rogers biopic, "A Beautiful Day in the Neighborhood". The official sneak-peek video gives a heartwarming look at Fred Rogers, one of the country's most beloved entertainment icons, and his relationship with journalist Tom Junod.

The trailer gets people nostalgic as it shows Mister Rogers, played two-time Academy Award-winning actor Tom Hanks, wearing a red cardigan while singing the opening song of his TV show. "It's a beautiful day in this neighborhood, a beautiful day for a neighbor. Would you be mine?" he sings with a smile on his face.

The movie, based on a true story, follows skeptical magazine writer Tom Junod, portrayed by Matthew Rhys, as he is assigned to write a profile piece on the beloved icon. He forms an unlikely friendship with Rogers and finds his perspective on life transformed.

"Sometimes, we have to ask for help and that's OK," Hanks' Rogers muses in the approximately two-and-a-half-minute video. "I think the best thing we can do is to let people know that each one of them is precious."

Billed as a "timely story of kindness triumphing over cynicism," the movie has a logline which says, "It only takes one person to inspire a world of kindness."

People have since taken to Twitter to react to the trailer, with many admitting that the video brought them to tears. "have you cried at the mister rogers trailer? just.. hydrate, ok?" one commented. Another posted a picture of someone weeping and wrote in the caption, "When Tom Hanks as Mister Rogers said 'Hello, neighbor.' "

Some others have praised Hanks' performance as Mister Rogers in the movie. "I also think it's fine to make the movie now and not wait: who else but Tom Hanks could do it? We don't trust anyone else enough," one said of the movie. Another gushed, "Just give Tom Hanks the Oscar now, this is so spot on to Mr. Rogers."

Marielle Heller directs the movie, with the script written by Micah Fitzerman-Blue and Noah Harpster. She recently told Entertainment Weekly about making the movie, "He's a guide for how to slow yourself down and connect with what's true in your heart, your kindness, your patience, and your goodness. Having his voice in my head for the past two years while I've been making this movie has made me a better parent."

"A Beautiful Day in the Neighborhood" will arrive in the United States on November 22, just in time for Thanksgiving.
