The 46-year-old says that his controversial statement is actually meant for the female rappers that an interviewer mentions during their chat, and they include Nicki Minaj and Cardi B.

AceShowbiz - Jermaine Dupri has been in the center of controversy after he said in a recent interview that female rappers are just "strippers rapping." Following the backlash, the 46-year-old rapper has clarified his comments during a sit-down interview with TMZ.

Admitting to not being aware that his comment had gone viral, he shared that he only started noticing the controversy after watching Cardi B's video. "There's a million artists rapping," he said. "There's a million female artists that's out here rapping. Everybody continues to keep getting... what my statement was, was about the three that she asked me about." Jermaine was referring to an interviewer who asked him to choose between Nicki Minaj, Megan Thee Stallion and Cardi B.

"It wasn't about a general conversation about female rap, but everybody turned it into that. 'He said all female rappers sound like this!' And I'm like, I never said all female rappers. I never said that one time," he continued, before addressing those who keep calling him sexist amid the backlash. He stressed, "I'm far from a sexist. Let's not do that. That's terrible."

Jermaine was in hot water after his comments about "strippers rapping" hit the web, with many female rappers blasted him over that. Among them were Cardi and Bhad Bhabie (Danielle Bregoli), the latter of whom said on Instagram Stories, "Jermaine Dupri can suck my d**k. Been like 10 years since Bow Wow. Sit down grandpa."

Da Brat was among the few people who came to his defense. "Everything Jermaine Dupri does is done strategically," she said. "He knows what he's doing. He's a genius. You should be thankful that the conversation is even started now, all female rappers, because now the focus is absolutely on us... new, seasoned, legends. All that." Saying that people didn't hear the question right, Brat continued, "Go back and look at the whole interview."
