AceShowbiz - Piers Morgan is seemingly taking his joke way too far. In the Tuesday, July 9 episode of "Good Morning Britain", the host criticized Meghan Markle for demanding privacy while she was at Wimbledon.
It was reported that the Duchess of Sussex's security guard had asked someone not to photograph her while she was at Wimbledon because the royal was attending "in a private capacity." Morgan, who has been critical of the new mom in the past, said during the episode, "It's not a private place. If you want to go to a private place, don't go to the Royal Box at Wimbledon."
"Honestly, it's a complete joke," the 54-year-old presenter continued. "You've got to work out what you want to be. Do you want to be public or private?"
"If you go to Wimbledon in your free tickets in the Royal Box, the best seats in the house for nothing, and you take your two bezzies... you're public people," he added, before saying, "If you want to be private, go back to America and live privately."
Although some Twitter users agreed with Morgan's remarks, some others slammed him and accused him of unfairly criticizing her. "He's unhealthily obsessed about her. It's off putting and not entertaining at all," said a person of Morgan.
"For God sake give it a rest!" another user urged. "I'm sick of the constant bashing! Have you maybe considered this was Harry's choice? Given the family history with intrusion I am hardly surprised they want to limit their exposure."
Referencing to how the media treated Harry's mother Princess Diana, another person added, "Prince Harry witnessed the UK media's abusive behaviour and intrusion of privacy towards his mother and he is making sure his family will not face that same fate and is protecting Meghan and their son. Piers needs to back off with these verbally attacks towards Meghan it's bias."
Meanwhile, one other dubbed Morgan's criticism "misogynistic" with another person calling him "spiteful."
This is not the first time for Meghan and Prince Harry to be under public scrutiny for asking for privacy for their first child Archie's christening over the weekend. While the couple later released just two photographs from the ceremony, they opted not to divulge who they'd chosen as the child's godparents.
