The "Old Town Road" hitmaker 'came out' last weekend (June 30) in a series of tweets, and admits some of the backlash has been hard to take.
But he doesn't regret baring his soul on social media.
Days after his performance with gay rights activist Miley Cyrus at the 2019 Glastonbury festival, Lil Nas X told the BBC in an interview on Friday (July 05), he's still glad he came out.
"It's something I was considering never doing, ever," he said. "Taking (it) to the grave. But I don't want to live my entire life - especially how I got to where I'm at - not doing what I want to do."
And he insists the backlash he's receiving is karma for his own bad attitude in the past.
"I used to be that person being negative," he told the BBC, "but I feel like (I'm) opening the doors for more people."
