Tori Spelling's husband took to Instagram on Monday morning (July 01) to post a photo of himself hooked up to a breathing tube, explaining he had been admitted to an undisclosed medical centre on Sunday evening.

"So this happened last night," he wrote. "I got admitted to hospital with pneumonia, possibly meningitis. I've never been so sick in my life!!!! Thumbs up and spirits up though."

McDermott shared the news of his health scare just a day after explaining he had been suffering from an injured back and a high fever, for which he blamed the couple's six-year-old son Finn.

"I'm so BUMMED!!!," he captioned a clip of himself lying in bed. "I've been laid out for 2 days because I threw my back out. Now I got hit with a fever of 102. I feel like a big pile o (s**t)!!!"
