The 'Apollo 13' actor has reportedly been tapped by the producers of Aaron Sorkin's stage adaptation to replace Jeff Daniels as lawyer Atticus Finch starting on November 5.

AceShowbiz - Actor Ed Harris is reportedly preparing to return to the Broadway stage for the first time in 23 years to take over the lead role in "To Kill a Mockingbird".

Jeff Daniels has been portraying lawyer Atticus Finch in Aaron Sorkin's adaptation of Harper Lee's acclaimed novel since the record-breaking production opened in late 2018, but he will be stepping down from his Tony Award-nominated role on 3 November after a year onstage.

Producers have since tapped "Apollo 13" star Harris to take over on 5 November, according to The New York Times.

An official announcement is expected to be made this weekend, June 15-16.

It will mark the 68 year old's first gig on the "Great White Way" since 1996, when he featured in a production of Taking Sides.

Harris also scored a Tony nomination for his work in 1986's Precious Sons, and has continued to work in theatre over the years, mostly Off-Broadway, although he did make his "West End" debut in London play "Buried Child" in 2016.
