Dedicating her special honor to late hairstylists Kevyn Aucoin and Oribe Canales, the 'On the Floor' hitmaker additionally thanks her children as well as fiance Alex Rodriguez for their support.

AceShowbiz - Jennifer Lopez struggled to control her emotions as she accepted the Fashion Icon prize at the CFDA Awards in New York on Monday night (June 03).

The 49-year-old singer and actress looked stunning in a sparkly orange crop top and voluminous puffball skirt in the same hue, both from Ralph Lauren Collection, for her big moment.

Taking to the stage as she collected the gong, which was the final award of the evening, Jennifer found herself overcome with emotion as she paid tribute to those who have shaped her into the fashionista she is today.

Dedicating her award to hairstylists Kevyn Aucoin and Oribe Canales, both of whom died this year, the mother-of-two told the crowd: "We lost two (great) artists this year, Kevyn Aucoin and Oribe, who helped turn me from an around-the-way girl."

Turning around to wipe her eyes, Jennifer added: "I said I wouldn't cry! Together we created so many iconic looks, and I'm forever grateful. And tonight, I'm dedicating this award to them."

The "Hustlers" star also found herself getting teary again when she thanked her children and fiance Alex Rodriguez for their support, telling the former baseball player: "You make me feel like the MVP (most valuable player) every day. You make me feel like the most beautiful person in the world, just from your love. Thank you so much."

Other winners at the star-studded awards ceremony included Brandon Maxwell, who was named Womenswear Designer of the Year. Accepting his prize, the 34-year-old admitted he regretted taking "full advantage of the free bar", before adding: "I am so proud to be part of an industry like this where we wake up every day charged with the idea that making a woman feel good, that making someone happy, is valid."

Rick Owens took home the Menswear Designer of the Year prize, while Ashley Olsen and Mary-Kate Olsen were presented with the Accessory Designer of the Year gong for their work with their label The Row.
