AceShowbiz - OneRepublic frontman Ryan Tedder is shunning the traditional music release schedule in the hope of dropping new albums every few months for the next couple of years.

The "Apologize" hitmaker wants to treat fans to new material as it's made, because the rise in popularity of streaming services has completely changed the way the industry works.

"My goal right now is to drop a new song every four to six weeks. I mean, this is ambitious, but (we'll do that) for the next two years...," he said.

"(We'll) drop four/five songs, (and) by the fifth song, here's an album. Then start the process all over again."

Tedder, who is known as a prolific songwriter, penning hits for the likes of Adele, Beyonce Knowles, Madonna and Taylor Swift, admits failing to adapt to changing technology nowadays could kill an artist's career.

"Streaming has upended the entire system (music industry) in a way that I can't even explain, but now the way people consume music is a lot," he explained.

"Like, if you give me something new and I like you as an artist, well, three weeks later, I've already kind of moved on, so you better give me something new again."

"I don't like to say more is more, because you want it to be quality and you want it to be curated, but more is more... Everybody now has developed this ADHD (attention-deficit/hyperactivity disorder). If you weren't ADHD four years ago, you are now!"

He added, "My goal (as a songwriter and musician) is to keep your metabolism up as much as possible; give you as much music as possible."
