AceShowbiz - Britney Spears is trying to keep her ex-manager Sam Lutfi away from her family and her life for as long as it's possible. The singer is seeking renewed restraining order against her former confidante, whom she has accused of sending harassing and threatening texts to her family and disparaging them on social media.

A court hearing took place on Tuesday, May 28, where Sam fought the restrictions as overly broad and unconstitutional. Los Angeles Superior Court Judge Brenda Penny decided that the temporary restraining order would stay in place for roughly two weeks until the hearing resumes on June 13, when it will be decided whether or not it can be extended for several years.

Britney didn't appear at the court on Tuesday. She was represented by the court-ordered conservatorship that is run by her father, Jamie Spears, who began testimony that will continue at the next hearing. Sam also testified at the Tuesday hearing.

In a document filed by her attorney earlier this month, Britney claimed Sam has caused her "severe mental trauma" with his harassing and threatening texts and tweets to the star and her family. "The anxiety caused would be great," Britney's attorney Samuel D. Ingham III said.

On May 8, a judge ordered Sam to stay at least 200 yards (183 meters) from the 37-year-old star, her parents and her two sons and to refrain from contacting or disparaging them. In documents opposing the order, Sam and his attorney argued that it is "an unconstitutional prior restraint on speech" to prohibit him from making disparaging comments about the singer or her family.

He also claimed that he hasn't had any direct contact with Britney since 2009, but he did confess to recently contacting Lynne via phone calls and "non-confrontational" texts, and offered her financial assistance if she decided she wanted to challenge her daughter's conservatorship agreement in court. "There has been no psychological or other evidence offered by Ms. Spears that she has actually suffered any distress," he stated in the documents.

Britney has also attended hearings for her conservatorship case. Her mother Lynne Spears is seeking to take a greater role in managing her daughter's life, while the "Hold It Against Me" hitmaker is seeking to have terms of her conservatorship adjusted.
