Slipknot's Shawn 'Clown' Crahan in 'Deepest Pain' Over Death of 22-Year-Old Daughter

The co-founder and percussionist of the heavy metal band announces with 'a broken heart' that his youngest daughter with his wife Chantel, Gabrielle, passed away on May 18.

AceShowbiz - Slipknot's Shawn Crahan a.k.a. Clown is mourning the death of his daughter, Gabriel Crahan. The young lady, Shawn's youngest daughter with his wife Chantel, passed away on Saturday, May 18. She was 22 years old.

The co-founder and percussionist of the heavy metal band announced the sad news in a statement posted on the group's social media accounts on Sunday. "It is with a broken heart, and from a place of the deepest pain, that I have to inform all of you that my youngest daughter, Gabrielle, passed away ... May 18, 2019. She was 22 years old," he wrote. The musician added, "My family and I ask that our privacy be respected moving forward."

Her cause of death has not been given, but the statement revealed that "funeral arrangements will be forthcoming."

Shawn also shares sons Simon and Gage as well as daughter Alexandria with his wife Chantel. Gabrielle's siblings have taken to social media to express their grief over her passing. Simon posted on Instagram, "Today is the hardest day ever, I'm confused, I'm angry, I'm sad and I'm just sad just really sad. Gabri I miss you so much I miss you like no other we were best friends we had a good bond and now your not here anymore. I love you Gabri and I know you'll know that forever."

Gabrielle's elder sister Alexandria shared their childhood photo and wrote along with it, "Yesterday my little sister Gabrielle passed away. I am in shock and have no idea how to process the wave of emotions I am experiencing. The comforts I have in these moments are my family, friends, and cats. Please put good energy out for my parents and my brothers. This loss leaves the biggest hole and our lives will never be the same. 22 is too young to die."

Slipknot's lead vocalist Corey Taylor offered his condolences via Twitter. "My heart has broken for my brother. Please keep the Crahan family in your thoughts and love. She will be missed," so he wrote.

Fellow rocker and Trivium's lead vocalist/guitarist Matt Heafy also reacted to the sad news, writing on Twitter, "So sorry for your loss. All the love possible to you and your family."

Alexandria later asked people to stop speculating on her sister's cause of death. She posted a screengrab of a Reddit thread in which people were talking about the topic and wrote in the comment section, "Everyone can wonder all they want. There hasn't been an autopsy yet. We don't have all the answers. You can wonder but don't f***ing ask me or talk about it with others on the Internet as if any of you know my family."
