Meanwhile, his son-in-law Conrad Thompson reveals that the retired professional wrestler's condition is not 'as grave or as serious as TMZ would have us believe.'

AceShowbiz - Rest assured, fans. Following his hospitalization, Ric Flair is expected to make a full recovery after undergoing surgery on Friday morning, May 17. His wife, Wendy Barlow, revealed the reassuring news through a statement that was released on Thursday.

"Due to ongoing health complications, Ric was taken to the hospital and is expected to undergo a procedure tomorrow morning, after which he expects to fully recover," she disclosed in the statement sent to TMZ.

Previous report suggested that Flair was rushed to hospital after suffering a "very serious" medical emergency on Thursday morning. However, the WWE legend's son-in-law, Conrad Thompson, stated that his condition was not as serious as how the report made it seem to be. "This is not a last-minute surprise surgery to family [members]," he said.

"I knew that he was going to be having a procedure done today. I don't think it's nearly as grave or serious as TMZ would have us believe because Ric is in good spirits about it. I knew it was happening," Thompson continued. "[He could have chosen] to have it done now or after [attending Starcast, a wrestling convention in Las] Vegas and decided to go ahead and get it done now because he thought he would be feeling good and wanted to get this done beforehand."

Flair has experienced a number of medical scares in recent years. Back in 2017, he was hospitalized in the early stages of kidney failure and on the verge of congestive heart failure, which was a result of years of alcohol abuse. His family members were told he only had a 20 percent of surviving and was placed in a medically induced coma.

Fortunately, Flair made a recovery after doctors subsequently removed part of his bowel and inserted a pacemaker. "I'll never drink again," the retired wrestler said following the medical scare. "I never want to go through this again."
