The 'Precious' director has been caught up in a legal dispute with the co-founder of Roc-A-Fella over a $2 million loan, before the latter's exes team up to claim their right on the settlement funds.

AceShowbiz - Director Lee Daniels is facing new legal action from the exes of hip-hop mogul Damon Dash in a dispute over a cash settlement.

Jay-Z's former business partner initially sued Daniels for $25 million (£19.3 million) in 2014, claiming he loaned the filmmaker $2 million (£1.5 million) in 2004 in exchange for the rights to the films "Precious" and "Lee Daniels' The Butler", and TV show "Empire".

Dash alleged he had not received any profits from the popular projects, but they struck a deal in 2015, when Daniels reportedly cut a new agreement with the businessman.

That settlement soon fell apart, leading Dash to file a new $5 million (£3.9 million) lawsuit in early 2018, but he and Daniels managed to hash things out, and he eventually moved to dismiss his case with prejudice, preventing him from trying the claims again in the future.

However, Daniels decided to launch his own suit against Dash and his exes, Rachel Roy and Cindy Morales, last month (April 2019), after the two women argued the settlement funds should be paid to them for outstanding child support owed by the Roc-A-Fella Records co-founder.

He wanted court officials to sort the mess out and tell him who the money should go to, but now Roy and Morales have teamed up to sue Daniels, insisting they are rightfully entitled to the cash, reports TMZ.

Dash shares two daughters with ex-wife Roy, and has a son with Morales.
