In a video he taped for imprisoned Leroy Evans, the 'Law and Order: Special Victims Unit' actor urges District Attorney to give the man a chance to prove his innocence after 39 years behind bars.

AceShowbiz - Rapper and actor Ice-T is spearheading a new campaign to help free a man from prison after almost four decades behind bars.
The "Law & Order: Special Victims Unit" star has taped a video for Leroy Evans, who was convicted for his role in the murder of Emily Leo in Chester, Pennsylvania in 1980.
He has always maintained his innocence and now the man who claimed he was an accomplice has recanted his story, prompting Evans' lawyers to demand a DNA test they hope will prove their client was not involved with the murder at all.
In the video, Ice-T says, "Come on DA (District Attorney), you know I'm not a real cop and I just play one on TV, but I think this man, after 39 years in prison, whatever the crime may be, deserves at least to get that DNA test so he can clear himself".
He adds, "Leeroy, you're in there for 39, man, I can't even imagine it. Alright? Good luck with this fight man, that's all I can say".
