Branded selfish and disrespectful for claiming she was 'too drained' to attend Lauren's memorial, the 'Braxton Family Values' star shares wise words about grieving differently from Toke Makinwa.

AceShowbiz - Tamar Braxton is hitting back at social media trolls for criticising the R&B singer after she insisting she is "too drained" to attend her niece's funeral.

Lauren Braxton, the daughter of the singer's brother Michael Conrad Braxton, Jr., died on 29 April, aged 24, after reportedly suffering from a heart condition.

It's not clear when the family plans to lay her to rest, but in an Instagram Live video posted on Thursday, May 02, Tamar blamed exhaustion coupled with her busy touring schedule for choosing not to join her relatives at Lauren's memorial.

"I don't have time to go to the funeral," she shared, as she prepared for the first night of her new tour with pal Kandi Burruss. "I'm still drained from that. It's a lot."

Tamar also admitted the in-fighting within her loved ones, with whom she co-stars on their reality TV show "Braxton Family Values", had taken its toll: "I ain't here for all that arguing with my family right now (sic)," she said.

Her comments sparked a backlash among some followers, who branded her "selfish" and disrespectful, but Tamar refused to stand for the criticism, and responded on Friday by sharing a philosophical statement by Nigerian radio personality Toke Makinwa, urging people not to pass judgement over how others grieve loss.

Tamar captioned the post, "... and now you know the rest of the story."
