The James Bond depicter reportedly specifically requested for the 'Fleabag' creator and star to polish the script of the upcoming 007 movie to add some humor.

AceShowbiz - Phoebe Waller-Bridge has been hired to polish the script of the next James Bond movie, which is currently still called "Bond 25". As odd as it sounds, the 33-year-old actress and writer is best known for creating and starring in BBC Three comedy-drama "Fleabag", which by no means has any similarities to the British spy film franchise.

But it was Daniel Craig himself who reportedly asked for Waller-Bridge to join the project to add some humor to it. According to The Guardian, sources close to the film in the U.S. said that "while in the country she discussed with Craig how to improve the script of 'Bond 25', which the 007 actor felt needed some 'polishing,' by introducing more humour and the offbeat style of writing she is best known for."

Hence, Waller-Bridge is added to the writing team, which already has Scott Z. Burns, Neal Purvis and Robert Wade on board to write the script. The latter two have written several prior installments of the Bond movie series.

Despite being known for her work on comedy-drama "Fleabag", Waller-Bridge has since gone to write and produce BBC America's drama "Killing Eve", which is based on novels by Luke Jennings. She recently also starred in "Solo: A Star Wars Story" (2018) as the voice of a droid named L3-37.

"Bond 25" is currently in production with Cary Joji Fukunaga serving as director, after Danny Boyle departed the project due to creative differences. Boyle reportedly clashed with Craig about the casting of an actor for the villainous role in the upcoming movie.

Craig once again reprises his role as the flamboyant 007 agent, which is said to be his last time taking on the role. Lea Seydoux returns as psychologist Madeleine Swann, with Naomie Harris, Ben Whishaw and Ralph Fiennes also among the returning cast members.

Billy Magnussen is reported to join the cast as a CIA operative that crosses paths with Bond. "Bohemian Rhapsody" star Rami Malek has been reported to play the main villain, which is said to be a blind man. Lupita Nyong'o was rumored to take one of the female roles, but her team has shut down the rumors.

The movie eyes an April 8, 2020 release in the United States.
