The trailer further reveals a closer look at Meryl Streep's Mary Louise Wright, the mother of Perry (Alexander Skarsgard), who shocks Reese Witherspoon's Madeline with her remarks.

AceShowbiz - HBO has unveiled the first official trailer for season 2 of "Big Little Lies". The trailer sees that the ladies, Madeline Mackenzie (Reese Witherspoon), Celeste Wright (Nicole Kidman), Jane Chapman (Shailene Woodley), Bonnie Carlson (Zoe Kravitz) and Renata Klein (Laura Dern), dealing with people's judgement following the deadly school fundraiser evening.

Set to "Cold Little Heart" by Michael Kiwanuka, the video opens with Celeste telling others inside a car, "We're kidding ourselves if we think people will stop talking." Later, a surfer catches Jane's off guard after he asks, "You're one of the Monterey Five, right?" before she tells the ladies that judging from the way he says it, it is as if "we all have scarlet letters on our backs."

Meanwhile, Bonnie seemingly believes that bad things are going to come for them. "It's gonna get us, it's gonna get us all," she says to Madeline. "What are you talking about?" Madeline asks, to which Bonnie cryptically responds, "The lie."

The trailer further reveals a closer look at Meryl Streep's Mary Louise Wright, the mother of Celeste's late husband Perry (Alexander Skarsgard). "My son is dead. I want to know what happened that night," Mary says to Madeline. "I'm very tempted to ask you, but I don't think I would get the truth, would I?" she continues, while Madeline looks visibly shocked with her remarks.

EP Davie E. Kelley, who returns to write all the episodes in the new season, previously revealed that season 2 would pick up where the first season ended. The characters would be contending with the fallout of their big lie, and coverup of how Perry died. He went on teasing that season 2 would live up to the quality of the first season.

When asked about possible season 3 during the show's panel at Television Critics Association winter press tour, David explained, "There is no such plan now. We like our closure at the end of season two, so that will probably be it. Nicole added, "There's no plan. This was a long shoot for us and an enormous amount of work. I will say not to compare it to the first one because artistically it's a wonderful thing and it is its own entity. It was made with an enormous amount of love."

Season 2 of "Big Little Lies" will premiere on June 9 on HBO.
