Explaining the reason behind her thin figure on Instagram, the 'Modern Family' star reveals that she actually wants to gain 'a few pounds back of my muscle and get healthier.'

AceShowbiz - In the last few months, Ariel Winter constantly had to deal with body-shamers who kept accusing her of getting plastic surgery or taking drugs to lose her weight. The actress finally explained the reason behind her sudden weight loss during an Instagram Q&A session on Wednesday, April 10, revealing the switch in medication was the reason for that.

The "Modern Family" star got candid when a fan asked her why she's "so thin." In response to this, she wrote, "For years I had been on anti-depressants that caused me to gain weight that I couldn't lose no matter what I did. It was always frustrating for me because I wanted to get fit and feel like the work I was doing was paying off, but never felt that way."

She went on saying that she started to accept it and move on at one point, admitting that she preferred to keep "feeling eh" rather than "trying to find something to actually feel better" at the time. But her mindset changed last year, when she was "sick of feeling eh." Explaining that the "eh" feeling had nothing to do with her weight, Ariel revealed that she eventually found a new "combination of medication" that worked for her.

"The change in medication instantly made me drop all of the weight I couldn't lose before by just giving me back a metabolism. That was very unexpected," she continued, adding the medication worked great on her mental health. Despite that, she admitted she wanted to gain "a few pounds back of muscle and get healthier. Also want my butt back..."

During the Q&A session, Ariel also opened up about her mental health. "I've been in therapy every week for 6 years and I don't know where I'd be without it. I've grown so much as a person and been able to learn how to deal with things from my past that affect my present," she said. "It's a journey so I'm not all the way there, but I'm doing pretty good."

Revealing her hope to be able to get rid of the stigmas of mental health, she concluded, "I'm hoping this discussion will keep up progressing in the right direction with mental health checkups. We don't need to hide our struggles even though I know how hard it is to share. We are doing something to better our own lives. Always take care of yourself and don't listen to anyone telling you it doesn't exist or it's something to keep to yourself."
