The 'Your Body Is a Wonderland' hitmaker further burns down an Instagram user, who scolded the former daytime talk show queen for calling the late poet by her first name.

AceShowbiz - John Mayer is completely on team Oprah Winfrey. The 41-year-old pop/rock star had an epic response to Oprah's clap-back at an Instagram user who called out the media mogul for her Maya Angelou tribute.

In honor of what would've been the late civil rights icon's 91st birthday, Oprah shared a throwback photo of them together along with a touching message. "Maya would have been 91 today! This is my favorite picture of us," she wrote in the caption. "Even in death I feel the 'unbroken continuity' of her mother-sister-friendship referenced in the Henry Scott Holland canon. Death is nothing at all." She added a poem from Henry Scott Holland's 1909 book "Death Is Nothing at All".

While some of her celebrity friends gushed about the sweet tribute, one person called out Oprah for calling Ms. Angelou by her first name. The said user wrote, "Ms. Angelou to you Oprah. You have no license to call her Maya. She will always be Ms. Angelou."

Maya would have been 91 today! This is my favorite picture of us. Even in death I feel the “unbroken continuity” of her mother-sister-friendship referenced in the Henry Scott Holland canon 🙏🏽❤️ Death is nothing at all. I have only slipped away to the next room. I am I and you are you. Whatever we were to each other, That, we still are. Call me by my old familiar name. Speak to me in the easy way which you always used. Put no difference into your tone. Wear no forced air of solemnity or sorrow. Laugh as we always laughed at the little jokes we enjoyed together. Play, smile, think of me. Pray for me. Let my name be ever the household word that it always was. Let it be spoken without effect. Without the trace of a shadow on it. Life means all that it ever meant. It is the same that it ever was. There is absolute unbroken continuity. Why should I be out of mind because I am out of sight? I am but waiting for you. For an interval. Somewhere. Very near. Just around the corner. All is well.

The 65-year-old host took notice of the jab and graciously corrected the critic. "She actually gave me permission after the 2nd or 3rd visit to her home to call her 'Maya.' Believe me, I've witnessed when other folk did NOT have that permission!" she explained.

But it's John's response to Oprah's comment that perhaps completely silenced the troll. "When Oprah claps back - look down," he wrote. "One of her hands is your face. Now look in the mirror. That's right; you have seven Oprah hands for a face. You're tripping. This is due to the dusting of neurotoxins from the clap. You will wake up at the job you had in high school, but at the age you are today. In your pocket you will find a note that says 'do better.' "

Reese Witherspoon, Jennifer Garner, Chelsea Handler and Halle Berry were among other fellow stars who commented on Oprah's post. "This touched my heart deeply," the "Big Little Lies" star, Reese, wrote. Jen commented, "I am so glad to have this poem. Thank you."

Chelsea echoed the message of Oprah's post and Holland's poem, "All of us need to be reminded that death is not the end. It may very well be the beginning." Halle chimed in, "Wow... I just love this."
