AceShowbiz - It seems like Angelina Jolie is heading to Marvel. The Oscar-winning actress is said to be in talks to make a Marvel debut in Chloe Zhao-directed movie titled "The Eternals". The Hollywood Reporter is the first to report.

It's still unknown what character that the "Maleficent" actress will be playing as details about the superhero team adventure feature are still kept tightly under wraps. However, a source alleges that one aspect of the story involves the love story between Ikaris, a man who is fueled by cosmic energy, and Sersi, who relishes moving amongst humans.

Created by Jack Kirby in 1976, "The Eternals" is set millions of years ago. It revolves around superpowered and near-immortal beings known as Eternals. Alongside a more monstrous offshoot known as the Deviants, Eternals are the result of genetical experiments on human which is done by cosmic beings known as the Celestials.

Eternals and Deviants are constantly in a battle throughout the history. Additionally, The Eternals war with Greek, Roman and Norse dieties before leaving the Earth to explore the stars.

Zhao was tapped to direct "The Eternals" in September last year. The flick will have Matthew and Ryan Firpo with Marvel Studios Chief Kevin Feige producing. Zhao's credits include critically-acclaimed movies "The Rider" and "Songs My Brothers Taught Me".

Should Angelina take the gig, it will mark "The Tourist" star's very first venture into the superhero realm. However, it will not be her first comic book movie. She previously starred in 2007's "Wanted", which was adapted from comic book miniseries of the same name by Mak Millar and J. G. Jones.

Angelina is currently working with Disney, Marvel's parent company, on "Maleficent: Mistress of Evil". The "Maleficent" sequel, which also sees Elle Fanning, Sam Riley and Imelda Staunton reprising their roles, is set to hit theaters in the U.S. sometime in 2020. Additionally, Angelina's upcoming projects include an animation/live-action hybrid titled "The One and Only Ivan", which she is also producing, and a fantasy drama from Brenda Chapman.
