The Lip Gallagher depicter assures that the 'Poseidon' actress will never be replaced as Fiona, and co-star William H. Macy expresses hope that she will make a guest appearance.

AceShowbiz - Jeremy Allen White has insisted his former co-star Emmy Rossum will "never be replaced" on "Shameless".

The actress, who has played Fiona Gallagher in the hit U.S. version of the drama for eight years, announced her exit from the series in August 2018.

And while the show will return for its 10th season, White was adamant that Rossum's role as the on-screen family matriarch will not be filled by another actress.

"She's never going to be replaced; we're just gonna have to figure out how to work it without her. As sad as I am to lose Emmy as an acting partner, it's kind of exciting because it's gonna be a different show; it'll mix things up," the actor, who plays Phillip "Lip" Gallagher, told Variety.

"It'll be pretty crazy to see how Lip copes without her and how the Gallaghers survive without their matriarch," White added.

While the door is open for Rossum's return, William H. Macy, who plays Frank Gallagher on the show, said that the 32-year-old might return for a guest starring role before "Shameless" comes to an end.

"I think Emmy will come back and make a guest appearance before this thing sets sail. She better, otherwise I'm gonna grab her by the ear and bring her back," he joked.
