The One Direction member confesses that his friendship with the 'Pillowtalk' hitmaker 'never really got better' when speaking on 'The Dan Wootton Interview' podcast.

AceShowbiz - Louis Tomlinson's friendship with former One Direction bandmate Zayn Malik took a hit when the "Pillowtalk" singer failed to show up at his pal's TV tribute to his late mum.

Johannah Deakin made her son promise to repair his friendship with Zayn before she passed away in 2016, but Tomlinson admits that all fell apart when Malik wasn't there when he needed him during an "The X Factor" performance he dedicated to his late mother.

Speaking on "The Dan Wootton Interview" podcast on Friday, March 08, Louis confessed he was very upset when Zayn was a no-show at the tribute performance.

"Truthfully it (our friendship) never really got better to be honest," he said. "I had a couple of calls with him after I lost my mum and, you know, all the boys had agreed to come to that performance and he didn't show, and that really bugged me."

"Everyone (else) showed (up)... I got goosebumps there, and seeing Harry (Styles), Niall (Horan), and Liam (Payne), that was what I needed that night - that support."

Louis performed "Just Hold On", his collaboration with Steve Aoki, on the TV talent show.

Tomlinson has just released his first truly solo single, "Two Of Us", which he has dedicated to his late mum.
