Accusing the 'Quantico' actress of celebrating an attempt at war against Pakistan, the petition demanding her dismissal from her Goodwill Ambassador role has collected 93,000 signatures.

AceShowbiz - A petition calling for Priyanka Chopra to be dismissed from her United Nations (UN) role, due to her support for India's recent airstrikes in Pakistan, has collected over 90,000 signatures.

The Indian actress tweeted "Jai Hind (Victory to India) #IndianArmedForces," adding an Indian flag and a praying hands emoji, as tensions rose in the region last week (end March 03), shortly after the Indian Air Force had bombed alleged terrorist sites in Pakistan.

Her Pakistani followers were enraged by the tweet, and some set up a petition on the Change.org website calling for her to be removed from her role as a Goodwill Ambassador for the UN's children's charity UNICEF due to her backing of her nation's military actions.

"Priyanka Chopra doesn't deserve to be a Goodwill Ambassador for the UN," the petition, which had gained 93,000 signatures by Monday, reads. "In an attempt to express her nationalism towards her country India, she tweeted her support for the Indian Air Force's violation of entering into Pakistan's territory."

"Through her tweet, she has celebrated an attempt at war against Pakistan. Someone as influential as Priyanka Chopra, who has a massive following globally, must know how war is never the solution to win at each other."

It went on to state that war would destroy the lives of both Indians and Pakistanis living in border regions, and that it was unbecoming of an Ambassador for the children's charity, a post she has held since 2016, due to the conflict's disproportionate affect on kids.

Pakistani forces have also hit back with airstrikes of their own, as tensions in the two countries' amid the long border dispute, over the Kashmir region, escalated due to the airstrikes.

The 36-year-old star, who married the popstar Nick Jonas, 26, last year, previously apologised to her fellow Indians after an episode of her TV show, "Quantico", featured a Hindu nationalist terror plot.
