Chatting with Jimmy Kimmel on his talk show, the 'Roar' hitmaker reveals how a broken champagne bottle almost ruined Bloom's sweet and romantic proposal.

AceShowbiz - Katy Perry has confirmed her engagement to Orlando Bloom and shared details of the proposal after revealing her engagement ring earlier this month. Stopping by "Jimmy Kimmel Live!" on Monday night, February 25, the "Chained to the Rhythm" songstress opened up about how her now-fiance clumsily proposed to her despite his all-out attempt to make it romantic.
"It was very sweet," Perry began. "It was Valentine's Day ... we went to dinner and I thought we were going to go see some art after dinner but we pulled up to a helicopter." The helicopter ride reminded the host, Jimmy Kimmel, of "The Bachelor" date. "Very 'Bachelor'," he said.
"Yeah. I'm glad I don't have to go on that show now," Perry responded with a laugh. "It was really sweet. He asked me to marry him in a helicopter," she added, though later revealing that the moment was almost ruined by a broken champagne bottle.
"The funny part is we had champagne in the helicopter and the [ring] box was in his pocket and he had written down everything he wanted to say on a note," she shared. Perry said the note was meant to divert her attention while he pulled out the ring.
She continued, "So I'm reading [the note] but I'm hearing the champagne is broken and the bottle's everywhere ... he's pulling out this box that's too big for his coat pocket, rips his coat pocket and his elbow goes into the champagne."
Fortunately, their helicopter date ended on a good note. "We landed on a rooftop [in Los Angeles] - my whole family was there, and all my friends," she recalled, praising Bloom for doing "so well" with the proposal.
The 34-year-old pop singer also admitted that she "voiced [her] opinions" on the flower-shaped engagement ring that Bloom presented her during the proposal.
Recalling their first meeting, the "Dark Hose" hitmaker said, "In-N-Out plays a big role in my life. We bonded over an In-N-Out burger about three years [ago] at the Golden Globes. He stole one off of my table ... he took it and I was like, 'Wait! Who - oh, you're so hot. Fine, take it.' "
"And then I saw him at a party and I was like, 'How are those onions resting on your molars?' He's like, 'I like you.' And then, you know, cut to," she added, showing off her engagement ring.
Perry and Bloom took to their respective Instagram accounts to share a photo of the engagement ring, which features either a ruby or a vivid pink diamond in the center surrounded by a floral halo of eight round diamonds, set in yellow gold. She captioned it, "full bloom," while the British actor wrote on his post, "Lifetimes."
