AceShowbiz - Queen Latifah is returning to her hometown of Newark, New Jersey to develop a $14 million (£10.75 million) townhome community.
The rapper, actress, and TV personality, who is a co-president of BlueSugar Corporation, is teaming up with bosses at GonSosa Development to invest in the area, which will feature a mix of market-rate homes, affordable units, a fitness centre, and offices for nonprofit organisations.
The project is expected to break ground in the summer and open by December, 2020, according to NJ.com.
"(Queen Latifah and her partners) understand how difficult it is to make ends meet for many residents (in Newark) and want to be part of the solution," spokeswoman Cristina Pinzon says. "They remain dedicated to making life better in communities like Newark."
