AceShowbiz - Reba McEntire has spoken out about the lack of female artists nominated for the 2019 Academy of Country Music Awards.
McEntire will return to host the 54th ACM Awards on 7 April, marking her 16th year in the role.
As the country star, 63, revealed the nominations on Wednesday, February 20, she was quick to highlight her disappointment at the lack of female nominees in the Entertainer of the Year award category.
"It doesn't make me very happy because we've got some very talented women out there who are working their butts off," she said on "CBS This Morning".
Last year, the nominees for this award were also all male. And in each of the three years before that, there was just one female nominee in the category.
During an appearance on "The Late Show with Stephen Colbert", the "Turn On the Radio" star reiterated her dismay.
"They're great, but I wanted to hear some women in there," she admitted, as Colbert read the names of the nominees. "That would have been really nice."
