AceShowbiz - What a way to break fans' hearts. Charlie Weber and Liza Weil, who both star on ABC's legal drama "How to Get Away With Murder", have broken up, much to fans' devastation.

The actor confirmed the split on Thursday, February 21 in a statement to PEOPLE. "Liza and I share an amazing relationship rooted in love and respect. That relationship has found its way back to the great friendship we’ve always had," the 40-year-old actor explained.

He added, "We will continue to support each other and will always love working together."

The split of Liza and Charlie, who portray Bonnie and Frank respectively, comes after they have been together for two and a half years. The former lovebirds went public with their romance in the summer of 2016. They tend to stay private with their relationship, though Charlie revealed how they initially fell for each other.

"We were great friends and we found ourselves in a position to be more than that," he shared back in 2017 on the "Allegedly with Theo Von & Matthew Cole Weiss" podcast. "You spend a lot of time [together] and we, I very much enjoyed spending time away from work and so it all just kind of came together like that. I'm very happy."

He went on gushing over his now-ex Liza, "We're very like-minded when it comes to our approach to acting. We’re two actors who are very dedicated to what they do and have a very easy time separating who we are and who we are as characters."

Prior to dating Liza, Charlie was married to Giselle Weber from 2015 to 2016. Meanwhile, Liza was married to Paul Adelstein in 2006 before splitting in 2017.
