Having been hired to write and direct the film adaptation of Derek Haas' 2008 thriller, Gerard McMurray describes the chance to work with the 'Black Panther' star again 'beyond dreams.'

AceShowbiz - Michael B. Jordan is reteaming with filmmaker Gerard McMurray for an upcoming adaptation of hitman novel "The Silver Bear".

The "Black Panther" star signed on to tackle the killer lead in the film version of Derek Haas' 2008 thriller in October (18), and now "The First Purge" director McMurray, who served as an associate producer on Jordan's breakthrough movie "Fruitvale Station" in 2013, has been hired to write and take charge of the project.

"'Fruitvale Station' changed our lives," McMurray shares in a statement. "Six years later I'm reuniting with Michael in 2019 and directing him in one of the most exciting and intelligent kick-ass action projects Hollywood and (studio) Lionsgate has cooking. It's beyond dreams."

"Michael is an amazing, one-of-a-kind talent. He will bring a chilling and unnerving edge, authenticity and precision to the character of Columbus. 'The Silver Bear' is an incredible hunt-and-chase story about the most skilled and feared hitman in the underworld and I have a unique vision for how I want to bring that to life. I am beyond honoured and excited to be working with such supportive partners as (producers) Outlier Society, Nickel City Pictures and Lionsgate on my next film."

"The Silver Bear" is the first in a series of novels launched by Haas, who will also serve as an executive producer on the movie, reports Deadline.

Jordan is also producing for his Outlier Society firm.
