AceShowbiz - Disney shared special looks at some of its highly-anticipated upcoming movies during the 61st annual Grammy Awards on Sunday, February 10. During the live telecast, the studio debuted new TV spots for "Aladdin", "Dumbo" and "Captain Marvel".
The "Aladdin" sneak peek debuts the first full look at Will Smith's blue Genie. "You really don't know who I am? Genie, wishes, lamp-none of that ringing a bell?" the talkative genie asks Aladdin after the title character unleashes Genie from the magical lamp.
The video also offers new glimpses of the fictitious port city of Agrabah, Prince Jasmine and her tiger, as well as Aladdin in danger as he stands on a rock among melting lava.
The "Dumbo" TV spot, meanwhile, shows the circus' main attractions, including a troupe of dancers and a tiger, before Dumbo wows everyone as he shows his ability to fly in front of the audience.
In the "Captain Marvel" preview, Carol Danvers struggles during her grueling training sessions, both as a U.S. Air Force pilot and as a Kree. She finally breaks the limits as she challenges herself to go "higher, further, faster."
"Aladdin" is directed by Guy Ritchie based on a script written by John August. The live-action retelling of the animated Disney film stars Mena Massoud as the title character, Naomi Scott as his love interest Princess Jasmine, Marwan Kenzari as the villainous Jafar and Navid Negahban as Jasmine's father, The Sultan. It is set for a U.S. release on May 24.
"Dumbo" is based on another Disney beloved classic animated film. It is directed by Tim Burton, with a screenplay written by Ehren Kruger. Colin Farrell, Michael Keaton, Danny DeVito and Eva Green are among the cast members of the fantasy movie, which is due out on March 29.
As for "Captain Marvel", the superhero pic features Brie Larson in the titular role. She is joined by the likes of Jude Law, Samuel L. Jackson, Ben Mendelsohn and Djimon Hounsou in the cast. The Anna Boden and Ryan Fleck-directed flick will head into theaters across the nation on March 8.
