Speaking of her involvement with Ja Rule's disastrous music event, the Victoria's Secret model confesses that she cried when watching 'Fyre: The Greatest Party That Never Happened'.

AceShowbiz - Model Shanina Shaik sobbed when she watched the new Fyre Festival documentary, because she couldn't believe she had been involved with such a disaster.

The 27-year-old Victoria's Secret stunner was among several fashion stars, including Bella Hadid, Kendall Jenner, Chanel Iman, Hailey Baldwin, and Emily Ratajkowski, who were reportedly paid $1.2 million (£928,000) to promote the Bahamas festival on social media.

In a new interview with Australia's Daily Telegraph, Shanina, one of the first models involved to speak about the event, masterminded by rapper Ja Rule and entrepreneur Billy McFarland, admitted she was horrified by what she saw in Netflix documentary "Fyre: The Greatest Party That Never Happened", which lifts the lid on the events leading up to the failed festival.

"I cried when I watched it," she said. "It is really horrific what happened. The girls and I were just kind of dragged into it. We would never want to promote something like that or take someone's money."

Several of the models, including Kendall, have been subpoenaed over payments they received before Fyre Media bosses went bankrupt.

Attendees were promised a luxury music festival experience and the opportunity to party for two weekends on an island in the Bahamas, previously owned by Colombian drug lord Pablo Escobar. Instead they arrived to find substandard accommodation and food shortages.

The event was abandoned and it ended with co-founders Ja Rule and McFarland facing several lawsuits. McFarland is currently serving a six-year prison sentence for fraud.

"I would never promote anything if I knew that it would have that kind of backlash or what became of that," Shanina insisted. "I would never ever want to promote it. When a client comes to my agent (at IMG) and has a vision or a project they want to work with us on, my agency always makes sure we are protected and looked after."
