AceShowbiz - Hilary Duff is coming back to the big screen as the ill-fated Sharon Tate. Saban Film has released the first trailer for its upcoming movie, "The Haunting of Sharon Tate", which is based on the horrifying murder of the actress by Charles Manson's family.

Clocking at two minutes and twenty six seconds, the clip sees Duff's Tate awaiting the return of his husband Roman Polanski from Europe while pregnant. That is when the actress becomes plagued by bleak visions of her own death. "This person, these people, they're a threat to my safety and the safety of my baby," a very frightened Tate says in the clip.

The rest of the clip features montage of Tate awaking from a nightmare and shadowy figure appearing at her front door. There's also the infamous crime scene message, "Helter Skelter," written in blood on a wall. In addition to that, a clip of one of Manson's followers confessing to what really happened flickers on the screen. "It was like I was caught in something that I had no control of," she explains. "I had absolutely no say so as to what was happening to me. I was just like a tool in the hands of the devil."

Written and directed by Daniel Farrands, "The Haunting of Sharon Tate" focuses on the last days leading up to Tate's murder from her point of view. The plot is inspired by an interview with the late actress, who revealed that she had dreams about ghosts haunting her house and foreseeing her own death at the hands of a satanic cult.

Also starring in the movie are Jonathan Bennett and Lydia Hearst, playing Jay Sebring and Abigail Folger respectively. Both of them were also murdered at the time. Lucas Jarach and Eric Brenner produced the flick, with Jim Jacobsen and Jorge Garcia Castro executive producing.

The movie is set to hit theaters across the nation on April 5.
