AceShowbiz - Mo'Nique is currently busy promoting her upcoming Las Vegas residency and that apparently includes her stopping by Steve Harvey's talk show "Steve". The Wednesday, January 30 tapping of the show should be a friendly interview until the host made an insulting request that riled the Oscar-winning comedienne up.
According to The Jasmine Brand, Steve and Mo'Nique got into a heated argument during the show. It came down as they discussed the latter's controversial remarks about Whoopi Goldberg. Steve allegedly urged the comedienne and actress to apologize to "The View" co-host after calling her "the help" in a recent interview.
Previously, Mo'Nique slammed Whoopi for saying that she could have schooled her. In an interview with Vulture, the former said, "The very thing I went to 'The View' to speak about was the very thing I experienced on 'The View'," she said. "You give me three minutes to talk about inequality? Well, I was there the whole show. When you have a woman saying, 'I could have schooled you,' someone would say, 'What was the schooling going to be?' "
"How many things has Whoopi Goldberg executive produced?" she asked. "Whoopi Goldberg has always been the help, and I say that humbly. So what is it that you're going to school me on? I've been doing it for almost 30 years," she continued saying.
"I love my sister. However, when you know you're being fed the wrong food, you must say, 'I can't chew this, y'all,' " Mo'Nique concluded.
As if that was not enough, Steve also asked Mo'Nique to apologize to Oprah Winfrey and Tyler Perry, who produced award-winning "Precious". Monique allegedly found the request insulting to the point she was about to get physical with the host.
"She threatened to hit Steve in the face," a source claimed to the site. "He told her if she hit him, her husband would have to come out and square off."
Another source confirmed to MTO News that Mo'Nique's husband was there at the studio, ready to jump on Steve if things escalated. Fortunately, the two comedians managed to calm themselves down and finished the interview without violence.
The source, though, noted that it was hard not to notice the tension. "There was a lot of tension in the room. Mo'Nique looked like she was ready to put hands on Steve," the source claimed.
It was said that the cameras were rolling during the altercation. However, it remains to be seen if the war of words are going to make it air. Meanwhile, the episode featuring Mo'Nique is scheduled to air in the coming weeks.
