McLean Police Department shares a picture of an officer arresting a woman dressing as the snow queen from Disney's movie.

AceShowbiz - Illinois police are facing the polar vortex with humor. The McClean Police Department has jokingly blamed Elsa from Disney's movie "Frozen (2013)" for bringing bitter cold and frigid temperatures to the Midwest.

The police department took to its official Facebook page on Tuesday, January 29 to share a photo of an officer putting a woman, who is dressing as the Queen of Arendell from the animated film, under arrest. The accompanying caption read, "Due to the EXTREME COLD weather, all criminal activity and acts of stupidity and foolishness has been cancelled. Even Elsa has been placed under arrest with NO BOND until further notice. Thank you for your attention and understanding to this matter. Respectfully, the McLean Police Dept."

Similar photos have been shared before by numerous police departments when the U.S. is hit with frigid temperatures. The pictures were originally taken to promote a local company that provides characters for children's birthday parties.

Due to polar vortex, the Midwest area, including Detroit, Indiana, Chicago, central Illinois, northern Ohio and western Pennsylvania, is hit with freezing temperatures that go below 0 degree. This has affected many public activities, leading to canceled flights, closed schools and suspended deliveries by the Postal Service around the country. A number of deaths have also been reported in relation to the subzero temperatures.

Of course, Elsa's arrest won't stop the freezing temperature from hitting the area. According to the National Weather Service, wind chills could reach negative 55 in northern Illinois, negative 35 in central Illinois and negative 25 in parts of southern Illinois on Wednesday. These will be some of the coldest wind chills in the area since 2014.

People are urged to bundle up and protect themselves from frostbite and hypothermia when going outside. The temperatures are expected to rise up by Thursday afternoon and even reach the 60s this weekend.
