It's unclear whether money is involved in their agreement, but report suggests that 'these things don't usually get settled without some cash.'

AceShowbiz - Kanye West and TIDAL can finally breathe a sigh of relief. The rapper and the streaming service have settled their lawsuit with fan Justin Baker-Rhett over claims saying that "The Life of Pablo" would only be available to stream on TIDAL.

According to The Blast, which first reported the news, Justin filed documents to dismiss the class-action suit. He said in the documents that they "hereby stipulate and agree to the dimissal of Plaintiff's individual claims with prejudice and the putative class's claims without prejudice, with each party to bear its own attorney fees and cost."

Reps for both Justin and TIDAL confirmed the news through a statement to Pitchfork. "TIDAL, Mr. West and Mr. Baker-Rhett have resolved their differences amicably and the lawsuit has been dismissed," so the statement read. It remains unclear, though, whether money was involved in the settlement, but The Blast noted that "these things don't usually get settled without some cash."

The legal battle all started after Kanye told his Twitter followers back in 2016 that "The Life of Pablo" would only ever be available on Tidal and not on other streaming services like Apple Music and Spotify. Avid fans quickly signed up for Jay-Z's streaming site after that, but the album eventually did make its way to both Apple Music and Spotify six weeks later. Many felt deceived over this fact, because they only agreed to pay TIDAL's monthly $9.99 cost just to listen to the album.

Justin, who also felt deceived by this, decided to take legal action as it was a "deceptive marketing ploy" that "fraudulently [induced] millions of American consumers into paying for Tidal's rescue." TIDAL then tried to have the case dismissed, but a judge ruled the suit would move forward as a class-action lawsuit in June 2018.
