AceShowbiz - Pete Davidson is working with Judd Apatow on a semi-autobiographical comedy film.
The American star, who does stand-up comedy and is a cast member on "Saturday Night Live", rose to global fame following his brief engagement to popstar Ariana Grande in mid-2018.
Now, according to editors at The Hollywood Reporter, Davidson is partnering with Apatow on a new movie project, which is currently untitled. It is anticipated that the film will mirror aspects of the 25-year-old's own life, including how he spent his childhood in Staten Island, New York and the impact of the tragic death of his father, New York City firefighter father Scott Davidson, during the September 11 terror attacks in 2001. When he joined "Saturday Night Live" in September 2014 at the age of 20, Davidson also became one of the show's youngest cast members ever and the first to be born in the 1990s.
Neither Davidson nor Apatow have commented on the film, which is set to be overseen by studio executives at Universal. However, the movie will mark Apatow's first directing project since he made 2015 romantic comedy "Trainwreck" with Amy Schumer. Production is due to begin in May or June (2019).
Barry Mendel, who teamed with Apatow on films such as "Funny People" and "The Big Sick", and was also a producer on hit comedies such as "Bridesmaids" and "This Is 40", will serve as a producer.
In addition to his "Saturday Night Live" gig, Davidson has a number of films on the go, including a part in Taraji P. Henson's "What Men Want", and a lead role in "Big Time Adolescence" alongside Jon Cryer and Machine Gun Kelly.
He recently wrapped on John Turturro's "Going Places", a spin-off of "The Big Lebowski" centred on notable bowler Jesus Quintana.
