Also rumored to be joining the film project, which working title is said to be 'Greenbrier', are other series regulars that include Aaron Paul, Krysten Ritter, Jonathan Banks and Jesse Plemons.

AceShowbiz - Bryan Cranston is reportedly returning to the "Breaking Bad" franchise to star in a planned movie sequel to the cult drug drama series.

The "Godzilla" star portrayed chemistry teacher-turned-drug kingpin Walter White in the critically-acclaimed TV show, which ran for five seasons until 2013, and last year (18), it emerged that series creator Vince Gilligan had written a spin-off film, which he will also direct.

Cranston confirmed a feature film was in development in November, although he insisted Gilligan had not shared the script with him, or notified him of his character's return.

However, it appears the actor will be stepping back into White's shoes to make an appearance in the highly-anticipated project, which is said to serve as a sequel to the TV hit and centre on the misadventures of White's criminal sidekick, Jesse Pinkman, played by Aaron Paul.

According to a cast list obtained by RevengeoftheFans.com, Cranston will reunite with Paul for the film, which will also include the return of Krysten Ritter, Jonathan Banks, and Jesse Plemons, among other series regulars.

The movie, which reportedly has a working title of "Greenbrier", is currently in production in New Mexico.

Gilligan has yet to comment on the news, but Cranston previously insisted he would "absolutely" jump at the opportunity to return to the franchise - if only the creator could find a way to bring White back to life onscreen, after suffering a mortal wound in the series finale.

"There's a question of whether or not we'll even see Walter White in this movie...," he shared on sports talk radio's "The Dan Patrick Show". "I don't know if there is an appearance or how, what kind of appearance: flashbacks, flashforward, I have no clue."

Further details regarding the movie or its plans for release have yet to be revealed.
