AceShowbiz - Meghan Markle is just the rest of us who can't live without social media. The Duchess of Sussex is said to secretly have an Instagram account to see what is up with her friends and the world. However, it is said that she shut down the account just before Christmas over a nasty comment about her.
"Since she shut down her public Instagram, she'd had a fake account to follow her friends," an insider reveals to The Sun of the pregnant royal. "There was some really vile stuff written by social media trolls and obviously she also saw the headlines about her."
The insider adds that the trolls "really got to her and, in the end, she had to shut down that account just before Christmas, too, to protect her mental health." In addition, the source continues saying of the former "Suits" actress, who is pregnant with her first child with Prince Harry, "She felt very isolated and alone."
Meghan allegedly feels so distraught by the negative backlash to the point that "she doesn't feel safe enough to go out on her own without protection."
In related news, Meghan has gained a new nickname from her pals. Over the weekend, Markle’s friend and wedding-day makeup artist Daniel Martin took to his Instagram account to share a pic of avocado toasts he prepared with the royal.
"Back to our Tig days....." Daniel captioned the photo, referring to Meghan's now-deleted lifestyle blog The Tig. "Thank you Meghan for being the consummate hostess this weekend and still being the #avocadotoast whisperer, YUM!"
Meghan and Daniel are pretty close with Daniel previously gushing over the former. "She's been doing her makeup herself. She's not fussy -- she's just trying to get it on and get out the door."
