AceShowbiz - A24 has released a new trailer for Claire Denis-directed "High Life (2019)" for your viewing pleasure. Clocking in at two minutes and twenty three seconds, the clip hints at a little of what happens in the sci-fi thriller flick.
It opens with Monte (Robert Pattinson), a prisoner traveling aboard a spaceship on a mission to find alternative energy, playing with his daughter on the ship. "She's mine, and I'm hers," he narrates, before a montage sequence then introduces the ship's other inmates who include Tcherny (Andre Benjamin) and Boyse (Mia Goth). Their mission is being overseen by Dr. Dibs (Juliette Binoche).
"We were scum, trash, refuse that didn't fit into the system until someone had the bright idea of recycling us to serve science," Monte continues saying in voiceover. However, Tcherny is doubting their mission, saying, "This mission can't turn our shame into some type of glory. I can't do this flying around no more."
The preview grows more unnerving as Dr. Dibs is seen at one point subjecting the passengers to sexual experiments along their journey. The clip ends with Moten staring at his daughter with a worried look on his face.
"High Life" follows the story of a group of criminals taken into deep-space under the promise of being freed for participation. As they make their way to a massive black hole, the passengers begin to realize scientists onboard are actually using them for sexual experiment.
In addition to directing, Claire Denis co-wrote the script alongside Jean-Pol Fargeau and Geoff Cox. Laurence Clerc, Oliver Dungery and Christoph Friedel served as producers along with Claudia Steffen and Olivier Thery-Lapiney.
"High Life", which premiered in September at the 2018 Toronto International Film Festival, is set to hit theaters across the nation on April 12. So far, the thrilling adventure has received positive reviews, with an 85 percent "fresh" score on Rotten Tomatoes.
