AceShowbiz - "Jersey Shore" star Mike Sorrentino a.k.a. The Situation has begun his eight-month prison sentence for tax evasion.

The reality TV star surrendered to authorities and checked into prison on Tuesday afternoon, January 15, according to a representative for the Federal Bureau of Prisons.

Sorrentino, who will serve his time at Otisville Federal Correctional Institution in upstate New York, has set up a Facebook account so he can keep in touch with fans from behind bars.

During a livestream 'event' prior to checking into prison, the newlywed said, "I want to put this behind me and move forward. The comeback is always greater than the setback."

He was joined during the livestream by his wife Lauren, who he wed in November (18).

Sorrentino was sentenced in October 2018 during an appearance in New Jersey federal court. He had previously pleaded guilty to falsifying business and personal tax returns between 2010 and 2012.

In addition to eight months in prison, Sorrentino was sentenced to two years of supervised release and ordered to complete 500 hours of community service. His brother, Marc, was handed a 24-month prison sentence for tax offences.
