AceShowbiz - Jimin is not going to let his fans, ARMY, to leave 2018 empty-handed. The Bangtan Boys a.k.a. BTS vocalist is ending 2018 with a surprise solo song titled "Promise", much to everyone's liking.

Released midnight in Seoul on December 31, the mellow pop ballad sees the 23-year-old South Korean heartthrob showcasing his evocative singing. The acoustic guitar and sweet lyrics further intensify the tenderness of the self-composed track that features Jimin singing about wanting to "be your light." He then ends it with a promise to be there for his loved one through thick and thin.

"Everyone, you've been waiting a long time for this, right?" Jimin greeted fans through the group's official Twitter account. "I'm finally releasing my self-composed track. It's a song for me, but it's also a song for you all."

The singer/songwriter appeared to be anxious about people's reaction to his very first solo track. "Though I may be a bit lack because it's my first, please listen to it. Thank you all ARMYs who waited," he concluded his post.

Released for free on Soundcloud, "Promise" is co-composed by Jimin with Slow Rabbit. Slow Rabbit also helps arrange the song. As for the lyrics, Jimin co-writes it alongside member-mate and leader RM a.k.a. Rap Monster.

RM is not the only member who is involved in the song as V is revealed to be the one taking the pictures for the cover art for "Promise". Expressing his gratitude for V, he dubs his member "the best photographer."

Promise" marks Jimin's first non-album solo single. He previously released "Lie" on 2016's Wings and "Serendipity" in a shortened version on last year's "Love Yourself: Her". He also released a longer version of "Serendipity" which was included on their chart-topping album "Love Yourself: Answer".
