Jimi Hendrix to Have Post Office Named After Him in Washington

Through an official statement, U.S. Representative Adam Smith announces the renaming of the Renton Highlands Post Office as celebration of the rocker's deep connection to the Puget Sound region.

AceShowbiz - U.S legislators in Jimi Hendrix's home state of Washington are honouring the late rocker by naming a post office after him.

The Renton Highlands Post Office will be renamed the James Marshall "Jimi" Hendrix Post Office, according to Billboard.

The post office is located near the Jimi Hendrix Memorial in Greenwood Memorial Park cemetery, where Hendrix, who was born in Seattle, is buried.

"I am honored to join in paying tribute to rock and roll icon and Seattle native Jimi Hendrix with the renaming of the Renton Highlands Post Office as the James Marshall 'Jimi' Hendrix Post Office Building," a statement from U.S. Representative Adam Smith reads. "This designation will further celebrate Hendrix's deep connection to the Puget Sound region and help ensure that his creative legacy will be remembered by our community and inspire future generations."

Hendrix passed away in 1970.
