'Black Panther' Dominates 2018 Black Film Critics Circle

The Marvel blockbuster film takes home three accolades, while Bradley Cooper nails Best Actor for 'A Star is Born', and 'Roma' wins Best Foreign Film.

AceShowbiz - "Black Panther" has racked up another honour after the Marvel blockbuster was named Best Picture by members of the Black Film Critics Circle.

Filmmaker Ryan Coogler won Best Director for the comic book adaptation, while the cast, which includes Chadwick Boseman, Michael B. Jordan and Lupita Nyong'o, took home the Best Ensemble award.

Viola Davis claimed the Best Actress accolade for her performance in "Widows and Bradley Cooper was feted as Best Actor for his directorial debut "A Star Is Born".

In the supporting actor categories, Mahershala Ali was honoured for his role in "Green Book", while Regina King won for "If Beale Street Could Talk".

"Sorry to Bother You"'s Boots Riley and "If Beale Street Could Talk"'s Barry Jenkins also received the Best Original Screenplay and Best Adapted Screenplay accolades, respectively.

"Roma" was named Best Foreign Film and "Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse" won Best Animated Film.

The BFCC's top picks emerge days after "Black Panther" was crowned the best movie of the year by members of the African American Film Critics Association (AAFCA). Coogler also earned their title for Best Director, while rapper Kendrick Lamar and SZA's "All the Stars" theme tune took home Best Song.
