Luca Dotti and his 'Audrey at Home' co-author, Luigi Spinola, team up with Italian company Wildside to develop the show that is planned to start production in 2020.

AceShowbiz - A new TV show about late actress Audrey Hepburn co-written by her son is in the works.

The untitled series, based on a treatment written by Luca Dotti and Italian journalist and writer Luigi Spinola who co-wrote the 2015's "Audrey at Home", will centre on the acting legend's "formative years" and TV bosses are planning to start production in 2020, according to Variety.

It will be developed with the help of bosses at Italian company Wildside, who made waves on TV with Jude Law's series "The Young Pope".

"In writing the New York Times bestseller, 'Audrey At Home', Luca and Luigi explored the singularity of Audrey's real self and discovered along the way that it all matched," a statement from a representative at Wildside reads. "The muse, the mother and the later humanitarian all closely relate to a girl that never stopped to be amazed by the gift of life."

Hepburn passed away in 1993 at the age of 63.
