The British punk icon has passed away at the age of 63, prompting singer Tracey Thorn and writer Neil Gaiman to pay tribute through their social media accounts.

AceShowbiz - British punk icon Pete Shelley has died, aged 63.
The Buzzcocks frontman passed away after suffering a suspected heart attack at his home in Estonia on Thursday, December 06.
Shelley was a co-founder of the Buzzcocks, who were one of Britain's most commercially successful punk bands - scoring hits with "Ever Fallen in Love (With Someone You Shouldn't've)", "What Do I Get?" and "Orgasm Addict".
Forming in 1976, their first major show was as support to the Sex Pistols in Manchester, England. They split in 1981 and reformed eight years later.
Shelley also enjoyed solo success, releasing the albums "Sky Yen", "XL1", "Homosapien" and "Heaven & the Sea", and the hit singles "Telephone Operator" and "Homosapien", which was initially banned by the BBC for "explicit reference to gay sex."
Former Everything But the Girl singer Tracey Thorn and writer Neil Gaiman were among the first to pay their respects on social media.

Thorn called Shelley an "amazing songwriter," while Gaiman tweeted, "part of my youth dies with him."
