The words 'Family', Hope', 'Compassion' and 'Love' are also hand-stitched into the Ralph Lauren gown the 'Quantico' star wore for the Christian ceremony of her weekend nuptials.

AceShowbiz - Priyanka Chopra paid sweet tributes to her parents and her groom Nick Jonas on her wedding day by sewing their names into her stunning Ralph Lauren wedding gown.

The "Baywatch" beauty and pop star Nick first exchanged vows in a Christian ceremony at the Umaid Bhawan Palace in Rajasthan, India on Saturday, December 01, when the bride wowed her man and their guests by walking down the aisle in a long-sleeved, sheer lace Ralph Lauren gown with a 75 foot (22.86 metre) long veil.

Underneath the sheer fabric, Priyanka chose a strapless column dress, which sparkled thanks to its 2.38 million sequins, with the whole look taking 1,826 hours to embroider by hand, according to People magazine.

Nick also suited up in a custom Ralph Lauren Purple Label tuxedo, and Priyanka admits it was a no-brainer choosing the top designer for their Western wedding outfits, because it was the 79-year-old style guru who brought the pair together in 2017, when he dressed them both for New York City's Met Gala.

"They're so much a part of our love story for obvious reasons," the blushing bride explained to the publication of the team at Ralph Lauren.

Priyanka made sure to include a few other personal details in the creation of her gown - she had the "Jealous" hitmaker's full name, Nicholas Jerry Jonas, and their wedding date hand-stitched into the fabric, as well as a Hindi mantra, and the words "Family", "Hope", "Compassion", and "Love".

In addition, the former Miss World honoured her parents, mum Madhu and her late father Ashok, by having their names immortalised on her dress. She even had a small piece of her new mother-in-law Denise Jonas' wedding gown symbolically sewn into hers to tie the two families together.

Nick's tuxedo also had a personal touch - a piece of his bride's lace gown embroidered with the words "My Jaan", meaning "my life", was stitched into the lining of his jacket.

The happy couple returned to the same venue on Sunday for a Hindu ceremony, with the new Mrs. Jonas dressed in a traditional red lehenga, which was comprised of a floor-length skirt, crop top, and veil, all by Indian designer Sabyasachi, who recruited 110 embroiderers to complete the dress in 3,720 hours.

The finished look, which Priyanka topped off with a 16-carat diamond drop Chopard necklace worn as a head piece, was just perfect for the actress, who was born in India but raised in the U.S.

"I always knew I wanted a red traditional silhouette for my wedding, but Sabya brought in incredible French embroidery to the mix and with incredible jewellery and Western-inspired veil it was just such an amalgamation of who I am," she gushed.

The couple concluded its celebratory weekend with the Bidaai ritual, during which the bride's family blessed her new life.

"I love that our wedding was a religious mash-up," Priyanka smiled. "We took beautiful traditions that we both grew up with and personalised them in a way that made sense for us. It's been incredible to find the commonalities between our beliefs and figuring out how to blend them in a respectful and meaningful way."
