AceShowbiz - A slew of new set photos and video from Todd Phillips' "Joker" have found its way out online. The new photos see Joaquin Phoenix, who takes on the role of the titular character, filming an intense sequence on the street of New York City.

The 43-year-old actor goes full Joker as he is clad in the DC super-villain's signature color suit that is made of a red suit, orange vest and green collared shirt. Sporting the character's creepy facepaint, he styles his green hair in a slick back hair.

The Batman's arch nemesin is seen sprinting through the street, attempting to run away from what appears to be Gotham police. It can also be seen that Phoenix's stunt double is being chased by co-stars Bill Camp and Shea Whigham who play Gotham Police detectives.

The villain continues running that he doesn't see a taxi coming on his way. He hit the taxi and falls hard, but he manages to get back up and run for his life.

In addition of Phoenix, the upcoming thriller will feature Douglas Hodge as Alfred Pennyworth and child actor Dante Pereira-Olson as young Bruce Wayne a.k.a. future Batman. The two will join Brett Cullen, who was earlier cast as Bruce's father, Thomas Wayne, a role that was originally belonged to Alec Baldwin before he left the project due to scheduling issues.

Set in the 1980s, "Joker" will feature the events before both of Bruce's parents were murdered. The origin movie is described as a gritty character study of the signature villain of Batman, and also a broader cautionary tale of a man disregarded by society who becomes the ultimate supervillain. Joaquin Phoenix stars as the Batman villain whose real name is Arthur Fleck and is depicted as a failed stand-up comedian who goes insane and becomes a murdering psychopath.

Phillips serves as director and writes the script, in addition to producing the movie along with Martin Scorsese and Emma Tillinger Koskoff. Zazie Beetz, Frances Conroy, Marc Maron, Robert De Niro, Shea Whigham, Glenn Fleshler, Bill Camp and Josh Pais also star in the film, which is slated to arrive in the U.S. on October 4, 2019.
